EBENEZER: STONE OF HELP
"There is none HOLY like the LORD: for there is none besides you; there is no ROCK like our God.” 1 Samuel 2:2 ESV
This is my name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations. Exodus 3:15 ESV
“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders? Exodus 15:11 ESV
The Creator God of the universe is so HOLY the angels around the throne repeated the word three times to emphasize the completeness: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!" (Isaiah 6:3)
I forget His HOLINESS to my own harm. If I don’t remember how all-consuming His HOLINESS is:
I conform His commandments to my comfort
I alter His truth to fit modernity
I sin more so He can forgive more
When Isaiah heard those angels resound, “Holy, Holy, Holy,” he fell to his knees. He saw himself for the sinner he was. All justification evaporated. All equivocation fled. All areas where he repeated the serpent’s words, “Did God actually say …?” exploded in the reality that yes, God actually said “that” and He meant it. His HOLINESS is why He knows best and why we must REMEMBER to obey Him, no matter what.
For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite. Isaiah 57:15 ESV - 15
PRAYER: Lord, I can never praise Your supreme HOLINESS enough. And I can never thank You enough for Your desire to be with me and willingness to revive me.
“Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders? ... "You have led in your steadfast love the people whom you have redeemed; you have guided them by your strength to your holy abode.Exodus 15:11, 13 ESV - 11B
PRAYER: No one and no thing is like You, Lord. Nothing approaches who You are. Please lead me in this journey of my life so that I may stay close to You and not wander from Your love and truth.
Isaiah 57:15 states the Holy Lord dwells with the lowly in spirit. What does that mean for you in your life?
Describe your thoughts about the completely Holy God dwelling with you.
Identify areas in your life where your comfort or preference supersede God’s commands. After REMEMBERING His HOLINESS, are you willing to obey Him?
Go before the Holy Lord and ask Him what in your life doesn’t line up with His holiness. Then ask Him to help you lay that down in reverence to Him.
The angels cried, “Holy, holy, holy.” Name three holy actions of God.
