Day 29: REMEMBERING Jesus Is Lord

EBENEZER: STONE OF HELP

… as it is written, "Behold, I am laying in Zion a STONE of stumbling, and a ROCK of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame." ~Romans 9:33

REMEMBER VERSE

… that you should REMEMBER the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles. ~2 Peter 3:2

DEVOTION

What do I do with Jesus?

Eternity rests with the answer to that question. Jesus is the STONE on my path of life. I can either stumble on Him or stand on Him. He is the ROCK on my road to self. I can either be offended by Him or agree with Him.

But why should I plant myself on Him when I might not get to go where I want? Why should I obey Him when He might deny my desires? I ONLY do that if He is TRULY God incarnate.

The Bible overflows with prophesies of a coming Messiah, which Jesus fulfilled in flawless detail. The statistical probability of this occurring by happenstance reveals the impossibility of this being anything but design. He is God. (Here’s more info)

If I REMEMBER Who He is and what He did for me by dying on the cross in my place, then answering the question becomes obvious.

What do I do with Jesus? I bow before Him. Bend my knee to His will. Place my heart in His hands. Give Him my life for His work.

I stand on my ROCK, JESUS.

  • … because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

  • PRAYER: Jesus, You are Lord. You are in charge of me, my life, and my decisions. My heart is Yours and I believe that You alone can save me. Thank You for conquering death and providing a way for me to have relationship with You now, and eternal life forever.

  • … at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:10-11

  • PRAYER: Jesus, instead of stumbling over You, I choose to bow my knee to You. I confess You as my Lord. I choose to obey, even when Your truth offends my preferences. I choose You over me.

QUESTIONS

Have you confessed with your mouth and believed in your heart that Jesus is Lord?

If not, I invite you to do so today.

Psalm 118:22 says, “The STONE that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.”

What parts of Jesus’s teaching do you reject?

How can you submit to Him and build your life around His truth?

CHALLENGE

Write your answer to the question: What do I do with Jesus?

But you must REMEMBER, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. ~Jude 1:17

All Scripture from the ESV. Emphasis added.

Tomorrow on Day 30 we will remember the God deserves praise.
