Day 20: REMEMBERING God Never Leaves Me

EBENEZER: STONE OF HELP

I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a ROCK, making my steps secure. Psalm 40:1-2

REMEMBER VERSE

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25-26

DEVOTION

Life can be lonely. It’s hard to reach out past text and Facebook posts. It requires vulnerability to honestly share struggles and ask for help.

Do you ever look around for help or friendship? But, every one seems so busy with their own lives and problems. Or conversely, they appear to be rocking their life, and it’s embarrassing to reveal challenges or problems.

Here’s amazing news: Jesus NEVER LEAVES us. He pulls us up onto Himself and places our feet on the solidity He is.

He promises to never leave, to never turn His back. Nothing can get between Him and us, unless we invite it in. And if every other person in our life fails us or leaves us or is just too busy to notice we need help—He is still there!

Today, celebrate the Rock on which your feet stand. And if you find yourself sinking in a bog, lift your arms to your Savior. He’s ready to pull you up to Himself. He’ll never leave you, so never leave Him.

  • It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8

  • PRAYER: Oh my Lord, I am so grateful for this promise. I often feel alone, but in reality I never am.

  • Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ... For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, … will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:35, 38a-39

  • PRAYER: Thank You for allowing nothing to separate me from You. Please forgive me for allowing anything to come between us. I want to place myself fully in Your care and rest in Your protection and fellowship.

QUESTIONS

Psalm 40:1-2 says we can be standing “in a bog.” What feels “boggy” in your life? Ask God to draw you out!

Are there times you have felt like God left you? Speak the truth of Deuteronomy 31:8 over that situation.

When have you experienced God going before you? Thank Him for those times.

CHALLENGE

Ask the Lord what you have allowed between yourself and Him. Take the time to listen, and no matter how hard His answer, get rid of whatever He reveals.

All Scripture from the ESV. Emphasis added.

Tomorrow on Day 21 we will remember the God Holds Us.
