Finding Home

Review of Finding Home:

“the familiarity of this tale, told in such a breathtaking fashion was worth being in the dark for a while. How you have taken a brief parable and infused it with such literal richness, above and beyond character uniqueness, and an unconventional plot depth is extremely commendable. Grammatical prowess only comes second to the inclusion of bible passages in dialogue, a spiritual experience embedded in pure drama.”

What Early Readers Are Saying:

The Story of Finding Home

Thirty years ago, we sat under the teaching of Dwight Pryor, who taught on the Hebrew roots of the Christian faith.

On a Friday night in Dayton, OH he taught about the parable of the Prodigal Son with all the cultural implications of the middle eastern world. I sat mesmerized, immediately imagining a book that revealed the deep love of the father in the story. Turns out, the story isn’t mainly about either son. Rather, it paints an amazing picture of the Father’s love.

“I’m going to write that!” I said, imagining it might take a few years since I had three small sons and was pregnant with a fourth child.

Thirty years later …

The Book Is Written!

It took years, but I finally finished the book. Then I rewrote it. Then I submitted it to agents and was rejected. Then I rewrote it again. Then I edited more. Then I won an award for the first chapters. Then I submitted it to agents and was rejected. And THEN I decided to self-publish.

Self-Publishing has taken three times longer than I planned, which considering it took thirty years to arrive where I am now shouldn’t have surprised me, but it did!

Jesus told the Prodigal Son parable to a middle eastern crowd and shocked their sandals off. What kind of family was this?

  • For a younger son to do such a thing was inconceivable.

  • For an older brother to behave so disrespectfully was outrageous.

  • But for a father to respond with such love and forgiveness was beyond imagining. How could a father love so much?

I wrote, Finding Home, to tell the story of our amazing Heavenly Father. Through vivid characters, dramatic storytelling, and deep cultural insight, this story will unlock the Prodigal Son parable like never before.

When you become awed by the love your Heavenly Father has for you, you will never be the same!
