Day 26: REMEMBERING To Love The World

And Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And he took a large STONE and set it up … And Joshua said to all the people, "Behold, this STONE shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words of the LORD that he spoke to us. Therefore it shall be a witness against you, lest you deal falsely with your God." Joshua 24:26-27

So you shall REMEMBER and do all my commandments, and be holy to your God. Numbers 15:40

And now, go, write it before them on a tablet and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come as a witness forever. Isaiah 30:8

I can tell what I love by where I spend my time and where I set my mind and toward what I direct my heart.

When I examine my time use honestly, my answers sometime make me uncomfortable. How many minutes are expended on Facebook or Netflix or some other mind numbing activity?

It’s easy to be distracted from my priorities by the time-suckers. Maybe that is why there are so many verses about REMEMBERING God’s Word. How easy to just forget to open the Book. How easy to read one verse and feel like I can check the box for the day. How easy and how foolish.

But read the prayer verses below. The Word of God is more important to my soul than food is to my body. Do I truly believe that? Do I act like that?

I will choose to REMEMBER the Word.

  • Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts. Jeremiah 15:16

  • PRAYER: Thank You Lord for giving me the sustenance of Your Word. Thank You for its value and for the way it fortifies my heart. Help me realize nothing can give me more joy than You and Your Word.

  • But he answered, "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" Matthew 4:4

  • PRAYER: Forgive me Jesus, for living by so many other things than Your Word. Please help me take every word from the Lord and submit my life to its truth.

Read Jeremiah 15:16 again. Think about desiring God’s words so much you wanted to eat them! Write down your thoughts.

Do God’s Words delight your heart and bring it joy?

How can you find more joy in God’s Word? How can you live by every Word?

Give up one meal today and consume God’s Word instead of food.

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:8

All Scripture from the ESV. Emphasis added.

Tomorrow on Day 27 we will remember the God loves family.
